MUSIC CHILDREN FOUNDATION
“The foundation’s primary goal is to offer instrumental and choral music education to children from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. It’s a lifelong gift. We simply want to offer them possibilities and help them open up to the world“
– MONIQUE PONG

What is the Music Children Foundation?
Inspired by Venezuela’s El Sistema and her own early musical experiences in China, Monique co-founded the Music Children Foundation (MCF) in 2013 with her sister Annike. Based in Sham Shui Po, an area with one of the highest concentrations of low-income families in Hong Kong, MCF offers free choral and instrumental music education to underprivileged children, focusing on collective learning, inclusion, and long-term impact. MCF has been extremely well received, having started with 27 students and grown to 1,200 students over the years. It continues to grow and transform lives, offering students not only music training, but also exposure to live concerts, mentorship opportunities, and a sense of belonging and empowerment.
